This role is full-time, based on-site at our Setubal facility.
About The Role
As an HSE Officer at Curaleaf International, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety policies across our facilities and operations. You'll ensure that every process - from cultivation to clinical service - meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Developing and executing workplace health and safety plans in accordance with legal and Curaleaf standards
- Preparing and enforcing policies to foster a culture of safety, quality, and accountability
- Conducting risk assessments, inspections, and audits to evaluate compliance across laboratories, clinics, and production facilities
- Delivering engaging training and awareness programmes on workplace safety and accident prevention
- Leading investigations into accidents and near-miss incidents, identifying root causes, and recommending preventive actions
- Maintaining and communicating up-to-date Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Keeping abreast of legislation, standards, and best practices, and advising management on required updates or changes
- Monitoring compliance with waste management regulations
- Maintaining key HSE metrics and producing regular reports for leadership review

Essential requirements:
- BA or MS in Life Sciences, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Experience in Health and Safety management, ideally within pharmaceutical, healthcare, or manufacturing sectors
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with confidence engaging across diverse teams and cultures
- Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism
- A proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable mindset, driven to deliver excellence in every task
